About Our Co-Founders & Directors
At SwellRock, we specialise in Building Control services, offering various services, including Building Safety Act Training, Building Regulations Compliance, Defence Building Control Advisor, and Independent Site Inspections and Plan Assessments. Based in Devon and Cornwall, we serve across the UK, providing support to help you achieve compliance in the built environment.
SwellRock is now a Registered Building Control Approver (RBCA), licensed to deliver statutory Building Control services across England.
About Chris Maslen
At the heart of SwellRock are Chris Maslen and Rebecca Morley, who bring a wealth of expertise and leadership to our team. Since 2012, Chris has been a Chartered Building Control Surveyor with experience in building regulation compliance. His expertise spans a wide range of complex projects, including healthcare facilities, high-rise residential buildings, educational institutions, and Ministry of Defence developments.
With significant knowledge of fire safety regulations and standards, including Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) modelling and Approved Documents B Volumes 1 and 2, Chris ensures adherence to stringent safety requirements. His qualifications include: Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Associate Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers, LABC Level 6 Fire Safety Specialist accreditation, a Postgraduate Diploma in Building Surveying, and Registered Building Inspector (RBI) Levels 3H and 4.
About Rebecca Morley
Rebecca’s qualifications include Fellow Chartered Member of CABE, CIOB Level 6 Certification in Managing Legislative Compliance, Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Construction Project Management, and Registered Building Inspector (RBI) Levels 3H and 4. Her dedication to sustainable construction and regulatory excellence reflects our commitment to creating safe and thriving built environments. Rebecca also has interests in education and school buildings and has extensive experience using the building bulletins design guidance. Our core values are fairness, quality and justice. Applying proportionate regulations, following the principles set out in the Regulators code; we apply our standards of morals, ethics and empathy to promote these values and ensure that they are at the centre of our work.
